Kentucky Linguistics Educational Outreach
The Kentucky Linguistics Educational Outreach Program (KLEO, for short) exists to make the field of linguistics accessible to the general public by increasing awareness of language as science, fostering appreciation for diverse linguistic varieties, encouraging exploration and inquiry, and inspiring children and youth as the next generation of linguists. KLEO has previously hosted LingoFest, a Saturday morning event designed to introduce youth in the Lexington area to many different areas of linguistic study by participating in hands-on activities that promote linguistic curiosity. Such activities include learning animal sounds from languages across the globe and completing morphology puzzles.
