Undergraduate Program

The Linguistics Program offers a wide range of courses in the various subdisciplines of linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, and the analysis of specific languages. Our courses allow majors and nonmajors to investigate the very nature of human language—how it is structured; how all languages are alike and how they may differ; how and why languages change through time; how and why the use of a language varies within a population; and how humans acquire their language(s).
