Biography

On a personal level, I am the happy father of 4 children [Grace (15), Ashton (13), Abigail (10), and Amanda (8)] and an even happier husband to my wife, Andrea! I enjoy riding my bike to school when the weather permits and pull out the volleyball, basketball, and tennis racket when time permits.

Research

My research interests relate to the Spanish language classroom and curriculum, particularly issues concerning pedagogy and assessment. I have had articles appear in the Modern Language Journal, Hispania, Foreign Language Annals, and the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education. Georgetown University Press recently published a book I co-authored with my colleague, Dr. Greg L. Thompson at BYU, related to the changing nature of post-secondary Spanish language education in the United States. I have a co-authored article in press with Luke Plonsky and Yasser Teimouri that examines the use of grades in published L2 research. Most recently, I signed a contract with Routledge--along with Earl Brown (my brother) and Yanira Paz--to publish a book entitled "A Corpus-based Approach to Spanish Lexico-grammar".
